Student’s Bio

PhD Student

Clint W. Halsted (chalsted@uncc.edu) received the B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1997 and 1999, respectively. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC. In 1995 he worked as Junior Engineer Co-Op for Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville, Arkansas. From 1997 to 1999, he was a Research Assistant with the University of Arkansas. He was Senior Electrical Circuit Board Design Engineer with Raytheon Company in McKinney, Texas from 1999 to 2003. From 2013 to 2015 he worked as Silicon Evaluation Engineer with Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. From 2005 to 2010, he was IC Design Engineer with Texas Instruments in Cary North Carolina. From 2010 to 2017, he was Electronics Engineering Technology Coordinator/Instructor at Mitchell Community College. In 2017, he was Lecturer with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Since 2018, he has been a Product Development Engineer with Rivegy LLC, Charlotte, NC. His research interest is in power electronics design for renewable energy applications. He holds two US patents and has an Amateur Extra FCC license.

PhD Student

Prithwiraj Roy Chowdhury (F’18) was born in 1992. He received the B.Tech. degree from the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore, India, and the M.Tech. degree from the Kalyani Government Engineering, College, India in 2014 and 2017 respectively. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte under the supervision of Dr. Madhav Manjrekar. His research interests are modeling, design, and control of power conversion systems, utility applications of power electronics and nonlinear dynamics and controls.

PhD Student

Tianchan Pang, Ph.D student, teaching assistant and research assistant of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, mainly specializing in circuit topologies, control methods and development of applications of multilevel power Converters.

PhD Student

Muhammad Foyazur Rahman received the master’s degree in electrical engineering from Lamar University, Texas in Fall 2017. Afterwards, he joined at University of North Carolina, Charlotte in Fall 2018, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering. Besides, He is working as an research assistant under Dr. Madhav Manjrekar and teaching assistant for the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.

His current research interests include application of wide band gap devices and solid state circuit protection.

Master’s Student

Chaitanya is Fall 2018 graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he is pursuing his master’s thesis under the direction of Dr. Madhav Manjrekar in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He received his bachelor’s degree, in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India, in the year 2018. His current research at the University, focuses on using state-of-the-art Machine Learning algorithms for anomaly detection in PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) data. He is interested in bringing the recent advances in Deep Learning and Data Analytics to strengthen the safety and security and thus, the overall welfare of the community.
