The Autonomous Robots and Systems Lab (ARSL) is part of the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
The research goal of the lab is to improve the ability of autonomous robots to optimally control and coordinate their motion in uncertain and dynamic environments. Such systems require algorithms that couple control/motion planning with sensing/estimation to reduce environmental uncertainty. Our work is at the intersection of engineering dynamics, control, estimation, and optimization. Research in the lab involves theoretical, computational, and experimental studies that use marine robots (surface/underwater) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to validate fundamental research results.
