The College of Engineering WordPress offering is a network of WordPress-powered websites supported by the Mosaic Computing Group of the College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte. We are using it to enable the Faculty and Staff of the College of Engineering to create their own “site” in WordPress which gives them an easy way to create their own interactive website with dynamic content (blogs, RSS, images, video, audio, etc) and manage their menus on it, use dynamic content (blogs, images, audio, video, etc..) all without the use of an HTML editor (Dream Weaver, Front Page) or web-development experience.

WordPress is very heavily used by the higher education community and over 140 universities are currently doing or are in the process of providing Word Press sites for their Faculty and Staff using WordPress. I am currently working with them to organize and host events where we can gather, network, share ideas and learn from each others experiences with Word Press.

The key benefit to the College and each department of the College of Engineering is that each website will have a common look-n-feel which shows the College of Engineering as a unified and professional team of Engineers to our constituents.
